Equitable Learning

Our dedicated educators support each child's learning journey, using innovative teaching methods to engage young minds. We believe that education should be an equal opportunity for all, regardless of their economic background.

Comprehensive Curriculum

Through our holistic educational approach, we aim to empower our students academically and personally. We focus on developing critical thinkers who are equipped to face the challenges of tomorrow’s world with confidence.

Empowering Students

We ensure that every child has access to resources including mentorship, tutoring, and essential learning tools. By fostering a love for learning, we strive to transform lives and uplift our community.

Academic

St Nicholas Preparatory School adheres to the standard base curriculum curriculum prescribed by the Ghana Education Service (GES), the official body responsible for education in Ghana. The academic year is structured into three terms, during which our students are taught subjects outlined by the GES curriculum. In addition to the standard subjects, the school offers lessons in French and Greek, thereby enriching students’ linguistic abilities and broadening their cultural understanding. This multilingual approach equips students with essential communication skills and prepares them for global opportunities.

In addition to our traditional classroom instruction, St. Nicholas offers a comprehensive E-learning program aimed at enhancing the digital literacy and technological skills of our students. This initiative equips them with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly digital and competitive global environment. Through access to computers, educational software, and interactive online resources, students develop the knowledge and confidence required to navigate modern learning platforms and future careers. The E-learning program ensures that no child is left behind in the race for 21st-century skills.

Feeding Programme

As part of our comprehensive support system, the school provides two nutritious meals per day, breakfast and lunch, for all students. This initiative is intended to alleviate the burden of feeding on parents and guardians, many of whom struggle to afford even two square meals a day for their children. By ensuring our students are well-fed, we not only promote their physical health but also enhance their ability to focus and perform well academically.

Health Services

St Nicholas Preparatory School is committed to safeguarding the health and well-being of its students. To reduce the financial burden of healthcare on families, we enrol all students in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), which significantly subsidises medical treatment costs. Additionally, the school is equipped with essential first-aid supplies and medications, administered by a trained health coordinator who handles emergencies before any hospital visit. We also maintain detailed health records for each child, which are used for monitoring and future reference.

As part of our commitment to the well-being of our pupils and staff, we collaborate with local and foreign medical clinics, doctors and health officers to organise large-scale health screenings. These include general check-ups and specialised services such as dental screenings. Through these health initiatives, we can detect and address medical issues early, promoting healthier lives. In addition, they provide valuable guidance on maintaining our children's overall health, ensuring they remain fit, focused, and ready to learn.

Broadening Horizons

Extracurricular activities play a crucial role in the full development of our students. We encourage participation in various clubs and sports.

Extra-Curricular Activities

At St Nicholas Preparatory School, education goes beyond the four walls of the classroom. Our pupils actively participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities designed to develop their talents, foster teamwork, and build discipline. These activities include navy cadet, brass band, choreography, composers’ group, science, technology, engineering and mathematics, robotics, e-learning, athletics and various sporting events such as football, basketball, table tennis. Additionally, pupils engage in creative pursuits like arts and crafts. These activities help nurture holistic development and provide a healthy balance between academics and recreation.

Children Reading Together

Weekend Literature Class

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve our pupils' literacy levels, the school organises a bi-monthly weekend literature class. These sessions are designed to nurture a love for reading, strengthen comprehension skills, and enhance vocabulary development across all grade levels. By creating a relaxed and engaging environment outside regular school hours, pupils are encouraged to explore a variety of reading materials, from storybooks and novels to educational texts. The program also includes interactive reading activities, such as group discussions, essay writing, storytelling, and reading aloud, which help build confidence and fluency in English. This initiative reflects our commitment to promoting strong literacy foundations that are essential for academic success and lifelong learning.

Empowerment Programme

St. Nicholas runs two dedicated empowerment programs, Girls’ Empowerment and Boys’ Empowerment, designed to support, inspire, and equip students with the essential skills, confidence, and knowledge they need to thrive both academically and personally. These programs aim to nurture well-rounded, resilient boys and girls who can contribute meaningfully to society, uphold their own rights, and advocate for others' rights. Through mentorship, leadership training, life skills workshops, and open discussions, our students are guided to discover their potential and chart a path toward a successful and fulfilling future.
